Northview Wellness

Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

It is a structured treatment option designed for individuals who are recovering from substance use disorders or mental health challenges but do not require 24-hour inpatient care.

Typically lasting between 8-12 weeks, IOP offers a flexible approach to treatment, allowing clients to continue with work, school, or family responsibilities while receiving intensive therapy and support. Clients typically attend sessions 3-5 days a week, with each session lasting 2-3 hours.

The program includes a combination of individual therapy, group therapy, psychoeducation, and skill-building activities aimed at helping individuals manage their symptoms, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and rebuild their lives. IOP is ideal for those who need a higher level of care than traditional outpatient therapy but have stable conditions to live at home.

  • Consistency and structure
  • Transitional care
  • Ongoing monitoring and accountability
  • Comprehensive care
  • Peer support
  • Cost effective
  • Integration of skills

Both programs have similarities, however IOP is a step down level. This means IOP requires less of a time commitment than PHP. IOP is a program designed for individuals who need treatment support while also maintaining their daily activities such as work, school, or family responsibilities.
